I just read a fascinating story on Vanity Fair’s website (via twitter) that really changed how I used to view J.D. Salinger and his Catcher in the Rye. I never appreciated or liked that book very much, but this story explains the military background of the writer and how it was reflected in his work. I encourage you to read this. I know it’s long, but at least ready Page 1.
